Privacy Policy

Effective Date: August 28, 2026

Original Galilean ("we," "us," "our") is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN 88-2386707). This policy explains what information we collect through oggalilean.org, how we use it, and the choices you have. We collect only what we need to run this site, process donations, and stay in touch with people who ask to hear from us, and we do not sell your information to anyone.

1. Information We Collect

Information you give us directly

  • Contact form: When you submit our contact form, we receive your name, email address, and message.
  • Email signup: If you sign up for our free 20-day email series, we collect your email address through our email provider, MailerLite.
  • Donations: When you donate, your payment is processed by our donation platform, Givebutter, not by us directly. Givebutter may collect your name, email, billing address, and payment details in order to process the transaction and issue a tax receipt. We receive your name, email, and donation amount from Givebutter, but we never see or store your full payment card information.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our site and hosting provider may automatically log standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, and pages visited, generally through server logs and WordPress's built-in functionality. This is used only to keep the site running securely and to understand general traffic patterns.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To respond to messages sent through our contact form
  • To deliver the free email series you signed up for, and occasional related updates
  • To process and acknowledge donations, and issue tax receipts as a registered 501(c)(3)
  • To understand how people use the site, so we can improve it
  • To meet legal, accounting, and regulatory requirements applicable to a registered nonprofit

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.

3. Third-Party Services We Use

We rely on a small number of trusted third-party services to run this site. Each has its own privacy policy governing how they handle your data:

  • Givebutter — processes donations and payment information. See Givebutter's Privacy Policy.
  • MailerLite — manages our email list and delivers the free email series. See MailerLite's Privacy Policy.
  • WordPress / Divi — our website hosting and page-building platform.
  • Google Fonts — loads the typefaces used on this site from Google's servers, which may receive your IP address as part of that request. See Google's Privacy Policy.

If we begin using Google Ads or Google Analytics as part of our Google Ad Grants program, this policy will be updated to reflect that before those tools go live.

4. Cookies

Our website may use cookies set by WordPress, Divi, or the third-party services listed above (for example, to keep a donation form session active or remember your email signup status). You can disable cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not function as intended if you do.

5. Children's Privacy

Our site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

6. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the information we collect. Payment information is handled entirely by Givebutter's secure, PCI-compliant systems, not stored on our own servers. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Choices

  • You can unsubscribe from our email series at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email we send.
  • You can request a copy of the information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing us (see below).
  • You can decline to submit the contact form or donate if you'd prefer not to share information with us.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time as our site or practices change. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. We encourage you to review it periodically.
